Probe after man dies in Dumbarton house fire

Firefighters were alerted in the early hours of Saturday

An investigation has begun after a man died in a house fire in Dumbarton.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at a property in Smollett Road at 00:45.

Crews removed a 66-year-old man from the home, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 89-year-old woman from a neighbouring property was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley to be treated for smoke inhalation.
