A bust of Scots-born virtuoso violinist and conductor Henri Temianka has been unveiled in his home town of Greenock.

The son of Polish immigrants, Temianka studied violin in Rotterdam, Berlin, Paris and later Philadelphia.

He later founded the famous Paganini String Quarter and the California Chamber Symphony Orchestra.

The bronze bust, gifted by Temianka's family, was unveiled at the McLean Museum in Greenock to mark the 110th anniversary of his birth.

On Saturday, which is Temianka's birth day, the museum will hold events to encourage local people and visitors to learn more about his and contribution to music.

Temianka died at his home in Los Angeles in 1992, aged 85.
