Gunshots have been fired at a block of flats in Edinburgh twice in one morning in a targeted attack.
Police were called to an incident on Greendykes Road at about 10:15 on Thursday. It later transpired that shots were also fired towards the property at 03:05 that morning.
There were no injuries in either shooting but windows were damaged.
A man was seen on an electric motorbike with a pillion passenger around the time of both incidents.
Police said that on the second occasion the bike was seen to have made off towards Craigmillar Castle Avenue.
'Reckless act'
Det Sgt Gavin Howat, of Gayfield CID, said: "Whilst this may have been intended as a targeted attack, the fact is that a number of shots were fired indiscriminately.
"The second incident was in broad daylight and there were people in the street at the time.
"Thankfully no-one was injured but this was a reckless act with no regard for members of the public.
"It is imperative that we find those responsible and for that we need the help of the local community."
He said police officers had been checking CCTV and speaking to local residents.
Det Sgt Gavin Howat added: "High-visibility officers remain on patrol in the area, and I would urge people to speak to officers with regard to any concerns or provide information."
