Banbridge: Man charged after alleged police choke attack

A man has been charged after a police officer was allegedly choked and kicked in an attack in Banbridge.
The 36-year-old is accused of non-fatal strangulation, four counts of assault on police and two other assault charges.
The alleged attack occurred in Newry Street at about 23:00 BST on Monday as the officer responded to reports of a fight in a takeaway.
The man is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
In line with usual procedures, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service, police said.
