Surrey £5.3m flooding grant covers 'tip of iceberg'

Work to repair the county's 2,500 worst affected roads is under way
The government has announced a grant of £5.3m towards fixing roads damaged by floods in Surrey.
The grant, the eighth-highest in England, is part of a £174m fund for communities across the country.
Surrey County Council leader David Hodge said it was the "tip of the iceberg" of the £15m needed to repair the county's roads.
The authority said work to repair the 2,500 worst affected roads in Surrey was under way.
A council spokesman said £800,000 was being spent on replacing Flanchford Road bridge, near Reigate.
He added that the £15m bill was expected to "rise significantly" once the final costs were in.
About 1,000 homes were flooded in Surrey last month after the River Thames reached its highest level in 60 years.
91Èȱ¬s in Chertsey, Guildford, Horley, East and West Molesey, Staines, Sunbury, Thames Ditton and Weybridge were affected.
