Norfolk schoolboy Ronan Parke will appear in the final of Britain's Got Talent after winning the public vote in Monday's semi-final.
The 12-year-old from Poringland impressed the judges with his rendition of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love.
Ronan said: "I was really nervous because Simon [Cowell] was there... and you think of the millions who are watching at home."
He is now the favourite to win, with Coral offering odds of 1-2.
It was Cowell's first appearance on the programme this series.
Ronan said this made him nervous, but his encouragement helped his performance.
"When I was standing there on stage... I looked at Simon and he gave me a little wink and that really boosted my confidence.
"He gave me lovely comments - I couldn't have asked for better comments from him."
Cowell said of Ronan, who wept tears of joy at going through: "I loved him."
And fellow judge David Hasselhoff said: "He's my number one choice to win this competition. To have that presence at the age of 12 is absolute talent."
