Norwich City Football Club has banned the vuvuzela from its ground.

The plastic horn, which emits a droning sound when blown, became popular with fans during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

A spokeswoman for the Carrow Road club said it was in the interests of "the safety and enjoyment of supporters".

Arsenal, Birmingham City, Everton, Fulham and West Ham United have also said the horns will not be allowed inside stadiums.

In a statement, the club said: "The club has received very robust input from supporters on the subject of vuvuzelas since the World Cup started in June, with the vast majority firmly against them being allowed into Carrow Road.

"The overwhelming feedback is that Norwich City fans would prefer to generate the usual superb atmosphere they create for games at Carrow Road without the need for vuvuzelas."
