A cyclist has died after a crash with a lorry in central London during the morning rush hour, police said.

The woman in her 30s was cycling at the Victoria Street and Palace Street junction at about 08:20 BST when the crash with a tipper truck took place.

London Ambulance Service said paramedics arrived within three minutes but the woman was declared dead.

The truck driver stopped and no arrests have been made. This is the second cycling fatality in London this year.

Mike Cavenett, from the London Cycling Campaign, said: "These lorries are banned from the roads overnight so first thing in the morning they go out on to the streets to make deliveries at the same time as cyclists. It is a serious problem."
