Plans for a 10,000-seat stadium near Truro have been put in to Cornwall Council.

The cost of the proposed development of Langarth Farm, at Threemilestone, has been estimated at about £24m.

A is available on the council's website. Councillors could consider the plans next month.

If approved, the plans could also pave the way for a new 1,500-home housing estate nearby in an associated application.

The housing scheme would see the construction of shops, a restaurant, hotel, care home and the expansion of a park-and-ride service.

In the £78,000 feasibility study posted on the council's website, consultants Gardner and Theobald said the project could create up to 400 jobs and generate an income of £3m a year.

Truro City Football Club and the Cornish Pirates rugby team were both stakeholders in the study.

Cornwall Council said when it commissioned its first study into a stadium in 2010 that, if built, the stadium would help nurture regional sporting talent to compete on a national scale.

However, it said in December that no public money would go towards its building because of spending cuts.
