Hundreds of fans have turned out to celebrate Chester FC's promotion - just months after the team was formed following the collapse of Chester City.

An open-top bus left the Deva stadium at 1015 BST, taking the players on a tour of the city centre, cheered on by supporters.

The Lord Mayor of Chester, Eleanor Johnson, then hosted a civic reception for the team at the town hall.

Chester FC was promoted to the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

The step up from the Evo-Stik Division One North is thought to be worth between 拢50,000 and 拢100,000 to the club.

Its predecessor, Chester City, was wound up in the High Court in March 2010, after being expelled from the Conference for failing to play games due to debts.

Chester FC manager Neil Young paid tribute to the club's supporters.

"This dream is there's," he said. "They have made it happen."

"Without their support and them coming through the gates, to bring these players to the club would have been impossible."
