Beyonce's performance at the Super Bowl is still causing a stir and not just because she stole the limelight from Coldplay.

The show featured backing dancers dressed as members of radical political organisation the Black Panthers.

Many people in America said the show was a "slap in the face" to US police and law enforcement.

Now an anti-Beyonce group is planning to stage a protest outside NFL headquarters in New York.

Beyonce's half-time performance at Sunday's Super Bowl featured backing dancers dressed as members of the Black Panthers.

The group was a militant organisation which fought for the rights of black people in America between the 1960s and 1980s.

At one point, Beyonce and her dancers formed a large "X" shape - which many think was a tribute to the civil rights leader Malcolm X, who was shot dead in 1965.

The singer performed her new song Formation, in which the lyrics make reference to the number of recent police shootings of black people.

The performance was criticised by the former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, who accused the star of using her platform to "attack police officers".

According to an anonymous Event Brite Page the rally is due to take place outside the NFL's headquarters in New York.

The invitation reads: "Are you offended as an American that Beyonce pulled her race-baiting stunt at the Super Bowl?

"Do you agree that the Black Panthers was/is a hate group which should not be glorified? Come and let's stand together.

"Let's tell the NFL we don't want hate speech & racism at the Super Bowl ever again."

However, one group has already planned a counter-protest in support of the singer saying "when black women affirm Blackness/Black womanhood, they are attacked and silenced".

"Sisters, dress in your 'Formation' video/Super Bowl performance-inspired gear and make this a moment a joyous one."

Attendees for the anti-Beyonce protest are being advised to wear blue and not black, to distinguish themselves from pro-Beyonce supporters.

The protests are due to take place next Tuesday.
