US band Foo Fighters have ended Adele's record-breaking 11-week stay at the top of the UK album chart, according to The Official Charts Company.

Wasting Light, the new album from Dave Grohl's band, pushed Adele's 21 down to number two. The British singer's debut release, 19, holds steady at three.

The cast of Glee have another new entry at four with their latest compilation.

In the singles chart, Jennifer Lopez's On the Floor has lost the top spot to Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO.

Lady Gaga has the highest new entry in the rundown, with her latest single Judas charting at number 14.

Adele's run at the top of the UK album chart saw her break the record for the longest time at number one by a female solo artist.

Madonna previously held the record thanks to the nine weeks during which her first greatest hits record stayed at the summit in 1990.

Martin Talbot of the Official Charts Company described the 22-year-old as a "true phenomenon".

"Adele's unbeaten run at number one may have come to an end but she has already made 2011 her own," he said.

Wasting Light posted first week sales of more than 114,000, compared to the 107,000 21 sold over the same period.

Foo Fighters previously topped the UK album chart with One By One in 2002 and with Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in 2007.
