Who is ahead in the presidential election?
This map of the US states is being filled in as results are called. Red represents a projected win for the Republicans, blue a projected win for the Democratic party. With 12 state results left to come, the map shows a strong concentration of red states across mid-America, the south east and north west regions. The Democrats have picked up states in the north east, the west coast, and Colorado and Illinois across the central belt. Donald Trump is projected to win North Carolina and Georgia, the first results from the seven battleground states.
