Boy, 16, sentenced after stabbing stranger

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced after stabbing a stranger in Leicester.
The victim - a 23-year-old man - told officers he was approached in Lockerbie Walk, Rushey Mead, by an unknown youth who hit him in the chest.
He ran from the scene believing he had been punched but later realised he had been stabbed and called Leicestershire Police at about 19:40 on 26 April.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to 32 months at Leicester Crown Court on Friday after previously admitting grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Police said the victim was taken to hospital and treated for a punctured lung.
He is now making a "full recovery", the force added.
After sentencing, Insp Charles Edwards said: "It is extremely concerning that a child of this age has chosen to not only carry a knife on our streets but to use it with such force.
鈥淭here are no excuses for his choice and the act he chose to commit that day which thankfully did not result in a loss of life."
