Nominations sought for local sports awards

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking to celebrate members of the local sporting community.
It is asking for nominations for individuals, teams, clubs and leagues based in the city for the Sports Advisory Council awards.
The winners will be announced at the annual event on Tuesday 19 September at Fordhouses Cricket Club, on Wobaston Road.
Peter Holmes, chair of Wolverhampton City Sports Advisory Council, said: 鈥淲olverhampton is very fortunate in having sporting and recreational clubs who contribute to the life of the city.
"The clubs are staffed by volunteers who without their contribution sport would not exist.
鈥淭his is an opportunity for clubs to recognise its members and nominate them for civic recognition. I look forward to meeting our nominees at the awards evening.鈥
Coach of the year, under-2s volunteer of the year and the Ted Hayward Memorial Trophy are among the categories being recognised.
There will also be awards of merit given out for contribution to sport within Wolverhampton.
Nomination forms must be submitted by Sunday 7 September, said the council.
