Actor held at Mexican border over attempted murder

Actor Nick Pasqual has been arrested at the border between the US and Mexico, and charged with allegedly stabbing and attempting to murder his estranged girlfriend, authorities have said.
Mr Pasqual is accused of breaking into the victim's home and stabbing her multiple times, shortly after she had taken a restraining order out against him, .
They did not identify her, but she has been named in US media as Hollywood make-up artist Allie Shehorn.
Mr Pasqual allegedly fled the scene and was detained at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
He has had minor roles in films like Rebel Moon Part One and Jobs, and TV shows including How I Met Your Mother.
He also starred in sketch comedy podcast National Day Riff, and sci-fi series A Demon's Destiny: The Lone Warrior.
Friends of Ms Shehorn set up a fundraising page for her, saying she was "fighting for her life, in critical condition".
"Allie is a remarkable person, full of warmth, kindness, and love," they wrote.
"No-one deserves to endure such a traumatic experience, especially someone as compassionate and caring as Allie.
"The road to recovery will be long and arduous, but with your support, we can help ease her burden and provide the financial assistance she desperately needs."
In a statement, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gasc贸n said the "heinous" incident was "a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence".
"My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident," he said.
"Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her...
"We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions."
