Thunderstorm warning for parts of Yorkshire

Thunderstorms may cause some disruption and damage to infrastructure in parts of Yorkshire on Monday.

The Met Office has warned that spray and sudden flooding could also lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The agency add there is a small chance of flooding in some communities in West, North and East Yorkshire.

The yellow warning is in place from 02:00 BST to 13:00 BST on Monday.

Rainfall is predicted to be between10mm and 40mm (0.7in to 1.5in) in places but could between 40mm and 60mm (1.5in to 2.3in) in more localised areas.

"There is a small chance that some communities become temporarily cut off by flooded roads," the warning states.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds."
