A man who caused "devastation" when he fatally shot his half-brother with a pistol in the middle of a street has been jailed.

Rumaal Ingram, 36, fired a single bullet which ricocheted off the floor into Zikel Bobmanuel's leg, in Openshaw, Manchester in March 2023.

Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard Rumaal, of Fallowfield, had threatened to hurt him earlier that day.

He was found not guilty of murder at a trial, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years.

Ingram had acquired the Glock-type pistol on the day of the attack, having told his half-brother he was going to shoot him in the leg after a row.

He later "followed through on his threat", firing the gun at Mr Bobmanuel "in broad daylight", causing fatal injuries, Greater Manchester Police said.

Emannuel Onasanya, 33, of Manchester, who was also charged in connection with Mr Bobmanuel's death has been found not guilty of manslaughter.

Det Insp Matthew Hamer said no sentence would "undo this despicable act of violence".

He thanked witnesses in the case who came forward "and helped provide answers".

"I am glad this man is safely behind bars for a very long time, and I hope he will use this time to think about the devastation his actions have caused."
