Driver dies and two taken to hospital after crash

A woman has died and two people have been taken to hospital, after a two-car collision on Wednesday afternoon.

Paramedics were called at about 15:50 BST to the A442 in Allscott, near Bridgnorth.

The woman in her 20s was found in a critical condition and was confirmed dead at the scene.

A woman from the same car was treated for potentially serious injuries, and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The driver of the second car, a man, was out of the vehicle when paramedics arrived.

He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious, and was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

West Mercia Police said an investigation into the crash was ongoing.
