A woman has been raped in an urban park in the early hours of the morning.

Cleveland Police said a woman was attacked by a man at 04:00 BST in Albert Park in Middlesbrough.

The force said it was looking for the attacker, who fled the scene, and described him as a black man aged about 30 and between 4ft 11in (1.5m) and 5ft 2in (1.57m) tall.

The man was riding a pedal bike, a spokesperson said.

The man was believed to have been in the Gresham area prior to the attack, in the areas of Parliament Road, Linthorpe Road, Granville Road, Woodlands Road and Park Lane, the force added.

They also urged people in the area to check private CCTV footage and said anyone with further information should contact them.
