About 600 tonnes of textiles on fire at waste site

Firefighters have managed to dampen down a blaze involving about 600 tonnes of mixed textiles at a waste disposal site.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service advised residents near Convent Lane, Braintree, to keep windows and doors shut after the fire broke out.
It was attended by crews from Braintree, Halstead and Coggeshall after flames were reported at 20:59 BST on Sunday.
"Crews have worked hard overnight to tackle the fire hotspots in the waste and get the smoke down as much as possible," said watch manager John Palmer.
Firefighters worked throughout Monday morning to dampen down the remaining hotspots.
In an update issued earlier, the service said there was no risk of smoke to the community but crews would remain to monitor the scene.
