A man who supplied a 14-year-old girl with alcohol before raping her has been jailed for 11 years.

Aluwas Razak approached and befriended the girl in Leicester city centre, bought her food, and took her to the cinema on 15 July 2023.

Officers said he then took her to a guesthouse in the area of Hinckley Road, Leicester, and sexually assaulted her.

At Leicester Crown Court, Razak, 30, was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child, and rape.

Extreme courage

Razak, of Stretton Road in Leicester, was found after officers trawled through CCTV footage to find the face of the suspect, said Leicestershire Police.

CCTV showed him withdrawing money from a cash machine, later found to be the money used to pay for the room.

Footage also showed him buying vodka from a nearby shop that night.

While out on inquiries to try and identify him, one of the detectives working on the case spotted Razak in the street entering a property.

He was then arrested.

Following the sentencing on Tuesday, Det Insp Kevin Hames said: “Razak approached a young girl who was on her own and after gaining her trust he abused that power to carry out the most horrific crimes.

“Throughout her ordeal the girl has shown incredible strength.

"It took extreme courage for her to share the details of what had occurred so that officers and staff could carry out a thorough investigation."

Razak was also handed a four year extension on licence, in addition to his 11 year custodial term, and given a sexual harm prevention order.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
