Council seeks artist for market mural
- Published
A town council has put out an appeal for an artist to produce a mural to go on the outside wall of its market.
Oswestry council wants the installation - at Powis Hall Indoor Market - to be completed by the end of the summer.
There has been no theme for the mural set yet, but the council said its preference was for it to be a celebration of the market.
Anyone interested must submit an application with details of the materials they want to use, timescales and expected durability of their mural.
"The mural would need to complement the recent work already completed to the outside of the building, including the recent repainting of the exterior and new branding signage," a council spokesperson said.
The successful applicant will be given access to the town council鈥檚 archives from which to draw inspiration.
The project comes with a budget of up to 拢8,000 to cover all costs of the work.
This will include scaffolding as well as covering health and safety considerations.
Applicants will also need to provide examples of previous work, references and proof of their public liability insurance.
The closing date for applications is midday on 8th April.
This project is funded by the government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which aims to improve pride and life chances across the country.
