Men appear in court after death of assault victim

Two men have been appeared in court following the death 33-year-old man who was assaulted on a city street.

Andrew Main, from Falkirk, died in hospital four weeks after an attack near the entrance of the Travelodge on Princess Way in Swansea at about 02:00 BST on 17 July.

Joseph Dix, 26, from Frome, Somerset, and Macauley Ruddock, 27, from Bath, spoke to identify themselves to the judge at Swansea Crown Court on Monday via a video link from custody.

They are due to appear in court again on 30 August.

Andrew Main was called a "great dad, brother and friend" by his family

South Wales Police previously charged the men in connection with the assault.

Nicola Whelan, who organised a fundraising campaign for Mr Main's family, said he was "fun-loving, carefree and, above all, a great dad, brother and friend".
