Three people have been arrested after they drove a stolen car down the wrong side of a major road, police said.
The black BMW M2 went down the wrong side of the A5 in Lichfield on Tuesday afternoon, Staffordshire Police said.
The force added that two men and a woman were then found in the undergrowth near the A5 toll booth, after they abandoned the car and ran away.
Police had since received calls reporting that the car collided with other vehicles while trying to drive away from the area.
Police said they asked the BMW's driver to pull over on Gaia Lane at about 14:45 GMT on Tuesday, but they did not stop and later went on to the A5.
Staffordshire Police said they had arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving.
They also arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and vehicle theft, and a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of dangerous driving.
