A drama group for care-supported adults has won a prestigious national talent award.
The New Centre Stage Drama Group (NCSG) in Bootle, Sefton, offers people involved in the care system the opportunity to build confidence through drama, dance and music.
NCSG picked up the audience award at the Care Sector鈥檚 Got Talent finals 2024 鈥 a contest for those living or working in care.
The group, brought together by care provider New Directions, performed a Copacabana set-piece at the awards show which was self-produced.
'Fantastic and talented'
Their song and dance routine went on to win the public vote and bring home a cash prize.
New Centre Stage activities lead Vicky Bennett described the performers as a "fantastic and talented group of people".
"We were deeply honoured to be invited to perform on such a grand stage and are extremely proud of all that we accomplished," she said.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service paid the group a visit in March while they were working on the Copacabana production.
One member, John, has been attending NCSG for a number of years and said he "loves every minute" of it.
Ms Bennett highlighted the progress of one group member called Liz.
鈥淲hen Liz first came, she wasn鈥檛 very confident and didn鈥檛 want to go on stage or do certain things," she said.
鈥淎fter a few weeks she threw herself into everything and absolutely loves it.
"She鈥檚 amazing.鈥
