Three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was seriously injured in Gateshead.
Northumbria Police said a man was found hurt just after 22:15 BST on Friday in the Saltwell Road South area of Low Fell in Gateshead.
The man remains in hospital, the force said.
Three men aged 25, 32 and 34, are being questioned in police custody.
A police spokeswoman said there was no wider risk to the public.
