A sea-themed festival with food and entertainment is under way in Plymouth.

Seafest is running on Saturday and Sunday, with events at the Barbican, Sutton Harbour, Royal William Yard, Mount Batten and Mount Edgcumbe.

It is organised by Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, Plymouth Sound National Marine Park and Plymouth City Council.

Jon Walton and Kim Downer, from Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, said the event celebrated the city's marine and maritime heritage.

They added thousands were expected to attend across both days.

"It really is a festival for all the family with something for everyone to enjoy," they said.

Councillor Tudor Evans, the leader of Plymouth City Council added: "With a wide range of free activities that our gateway partners are providing there's plenty of opportunities to give some a go."

The council said there would be "subsidised ferry tickets" to Mount Batten and Mount Edgecombe, as well as a free shuttle bus service provided by Plymouth Citybus.
