A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman at a residential property.
Avon and Somerset Police were called to the home on Cromwell Road, in the St Andrews area of Bristol, at 18:23 BST on Sunday, where a woman believed to be in her late teens was pronounced dead.
A forensic post-mortem examination will take place in order to determine her cause of death. The boy was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.
Officers warned there would be a large police presence in the area over the coming days, but believe it to be an "isolated incident" with no wider risk to the public.
While formal identification of the victim is yet to take place, the woman's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.
Neighbourhood Ch Insp Vicks Hayward-Melen said: 鈥淭ragically, a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this devastating time.
"Specialist family liaison officers are supporting them and will continue to keep them updated on our investigation.
鈥淭here will be a large police presence in the area over the coming days whilst we carry out the investigation, however we do believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.
鈥淥ur neighbourhood teams will be in the area conducting reassurance patrols and I would encourage anyone with any concerns to please speak to them.鈥
