Man charged after fire in car park of city flats

A man has been charged with arson after a fire in the basement car park of a block of flats in Nottingham.

Emergency services were called to the Litmus Building, on Huntingdon Street, at about 03:25 BST on Monday.

Two vehicles were destroyed in the blaze and a further car was badly damaged, police said.

A 63-year-old man from Netherfield has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and was remanded into custody, police added.

The man is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 29 May.
