Link road to open up land for housing
- Published
A short link road is due to be created to open up more land for housing.
Outline planning permission was given in 2016 for 250 new homes in Ellesmere in Shropshire, but a detailed application for 99 was turned down in 2019, partly because of the lack of a link road.
Developers Burbury Investments put forward the proposal to build the 0.8 mile (1.3km) link road between the Ellesmere Business Park roundabout and Canal Way.
It said the road would be "integral" to future development in the town.
A report by Shropshire Council concluded the road would "kickstart the wider development" and lead to the submission of plans for houses.
鈥淚t is considered that the delivery of the link road will provide substantial benefits to the town," it said.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
