A man has died following a crash involving a van and a car in a Leicestershire village.

Police were called to Foston Road in Countesthorpe shortly before 15:00 BST on Tuesday.

The incident involved a blue Citroen Nemo van and a grey Jaguar I-Pace, according to Leicestershire Police.

A man in his 30s, the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jaguar driver, a man in his 50s, did not suffer serious injuries, police added in a statement.

Det Sgt Mike Steer said: “From inquiries carried out so far, I believe there may have been a taxi driver who briefly stopped at the scene.

"I’m appealing for this person to come forward as they may have information that could help."

“I’d also ask for any other motorists with dashcams, anyone who saw the collision occur or who saw either vehicle beforehand to get in touch."
