School's artificial 3G pitch plans approved

A school playing field is to be upgraded as part of plans to improve grassroots sports facilities.
Doncaster Council planners have approved the work at Campsmount Academy in Norton, Doncaster.
Part of the school playing field will be converted into a 3G artificial grass pitch with floodlights, viewing areas and perimeter fencing.
The work will be part-funded by the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sports charity which channels funding from organisations including the Premier League and the FA.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the real grass pitch was unusable at times due to flooding, but the new artificial grass will be available all year round.
To offset biodiversity lost by removing the large area of greenery, grassland in other parts of the school will be improved and 25 trees will be planted.
Community groups in the area will be able to use the pitch when it is not in use by the school, including Doncaster Mind, Doncaster Netters, Leger Sport Netball Club, Askern Miners, Carcroft FC and Adwick Park Rangers.
Other groups which have shown interest in the upgraded facility include mental health groups and Mental Health FC.
Once the improvements are complete a booking system for those groups will operate outside of school opening hours and on weekends.
