Repairs to a retaining wall on Skegness Clock Tower will be carried out after the summer holidays, Lincolnshire County Council said.

The council said it was not sure when or how the wall was damaged, but said the broken sections needed to be fixed as they posed a "risk to drivers”.

The tower is due to have a display of poppies around it as part of this year’s remembrance events.

Councillor Carl Macey said the repairs would “definitely" be finished before Remembrance Day.

The council said their highways team would carry out the work some time between mid-September and early October.

Mr Macy said: "We’re not sure how the damage occurred, but the broken sections need to be fixed because they could pose a risk for drivers if they fall into the road."

The council could not give a specific date for the works yet, but said Mr Macy said "they’ll most likely be carried out between mid-September and early October, but definitely before this year’s Remembrance Day parade".
