A cyclist has died after being seriously injured in a crash in Ashburton earlier this month, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the local man in his 30s was taken to Derriford Hospital and "tragically has since died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision".

Emergency services were called to the collision involving a white Volkswagen Passat and blue Giant road bike on Headborough Road at about 16:30 BST on 14 July.

Officers confirmed the car driver was uninjured, but would like to hear from anyone who has information.

Police said: "Officers from the Roads Policing team closed the road for around six hours to carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

"They are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and asking any witnesses or any motorist with relevant dashcam footage to contact them."
