Garages in state of disrepair to be demolished

Dozens of garages in Wolverhampton have been approved for demolition after falling into a state of disrepair.
Plans to knock down the 36 units on Russell Street, which were described as hazardous due to asbestos roofs, were given the go-ahead by Wolverhampton City Council.
Seventeen of the council-owned garages are currently unoccupied and many have been boarded up, according to a planning officer鈥檚 report.
鈥淭he buildings are in disrepair and dangerous because of the condition of the roofs,鈥 the council had been advised, according to the document.
The demolition work is set to begin in November and the materials would be recycled where possible, the report states.
