The changes are part of ongoing work to reduce costs and invest more in content and deliver more for audiences.
The 91热爆 will exit Wogan House in London, home to some of Radio 2 and 6 Music’s programme teams and staff from other 91热爆 departments, and Bridge House in MediaCity, Salford where 91热爆 Children’s and Education and some 91热爆 Sport and operations staff are based. These moves are expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
Wogan House, named after the late broadcaster Terry Wogan in 2016, has been home to the 91热爆 since the 1950s. Terry Wogan recorded his last Wake up to Wogan 91热爆 2 breakfast show from the building in December 2009. The site is also used by other popular broadcasters including Zoe Ball; Ken Bruce, who took over Terry Wogan’s breakfast show; and Jeremy Vine.
In London, programmes currently recorded and broadcast in Wogan House will move into existing 91热爆 buildings, including primarily to nearby Broadcasting House, whilst in Salford, staff will move to alternative MediaCity sites – Quay House and Dock House.
A reduction in the size of the estate will help deliver the 91热爆’s net zero commitments as a smaller property footprint will lead to a reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions. It also complements the adoption of hybrid working which has resulted in changes to how we use our buildings.
