Brazil's Radio Cultura FM to simulcast Radio's 3 Music Nation broadcasts

Music Nation is the first nationwide countdown event for the London 2012 Festival with over 100 live music performances and events taking place across the UK on the weekend of 3 & 4 March 2012.

Radio 3 are clearing their weekend schedules to broadcast over 24 hours of live and recorded Music Nation performances from across the UK. The partnership with Radio Cultura FM will allow audiences in Brazil to enjoy part of the UK's cultural celebration ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Claudia Toni, Radio Cultura´s consultant for Classical Music, says: "The participation of Radio Cultura in the broadcast of 'Music Nation' marks the beginning of a collaboration that we hope will be long-lasting. The Brazilian audience will now be able to follow the best in music that is produced in the UK! Broadcasting live during 25 hours, in a direct international radio transmission, is a novel and exciting experience for us. This marks the first time that Brazil's Radio Cultura and 91热爆 Radio 3 share the airwaves."

Radio 3 performance highlights include: The Ulster and RTÉ Concert orchestras collaborating for the first time to perform a new Radio 3 commissioned work by Brian Irvine with words by Seamus Heaney in Belfast; and a Making Music commission by Orlando Gough that will be sung by community groups across the UK, including The Choir with No Name, a choir of people affected by homelessness. Devised and led by the 91热爆, and including performances by the six 91热爆 performing groups, Music Nation is a partnership with Arts Council England, the Association of British Orchestras (ABO), British Association of Concert Halls (BACH), Orchestras Live, Making Music, Conservatoires UK and Locog to celebrate the richness, diversity and excellence of Britain’s musical life.

Built around classical and orchestral music, but also featuring jazz, folk and world music, Music Nation will see world-class performances, community projects and workshops in venues and public places up and down the country, involving over 10 000 participants and featuring the premieres of 18 new works .
