Dates, Spaces and Times
Think about the best venue and date for your fundraising event so that you can get the best turnout. You may already know venues suitable for your event – for instance a local hall, school or even your office space. If you ask you don’t get, so try and secure a free venue if you can.
Get others involved
The more the merrier! Get your friends, family and colleagues involved and we can all tackle poverty as a team. You may have a friend who can bake for a cake sale, or a friend who can DJ at a charity summer fair. Tap into the talents of the networks you have around you to create an unmissable fundraising event.
Say it loud and proud
Once everything is finalised, spread the word! You can set up an event page on Facebook and invite your contact list. Alternatively, you can go old school and print posters and hand out flyers.
Create a frenzy
Build a buzz over social media by sharing information and pictures before, during and after your event. Create unique hashtags to get your community talking.
We all love a freebie
It may be beneficial to approach local businesses and let them in on your plan, as they may be able to provide you with sponsorship or cool raffle prizes.
Safety first
Make sure you take a look at our legal section so that you are playing it safe. Carry out a brief health and safety check before you proceed with your event, if necessary. If you have any further queries, contact us at supportmediaaction@bbc.co.uk
