Gay people are ordinary people with ordinary lives - but we're
always looking for their extraordinary stories. Richard Chadwick - Gaytalk |
Richard
saw an appeal for helpers in a magazine and has never looked back
since. He's been the presenter of 91热爆 GMR's Gaytalk since 2002,
and he helps to lead a team of committed volunteers who enjoy being
at the heart of what's happening in Greater Manchester's vibrant
LGBT community.
"When
I first stepped foot on Canal Street, I was very taken back by it
all. I remember stepping into Cruz 101, and found it unbelieveable
that two men were kissing. I was a bit like a child in a sweet-shop
- mesmerised!
"That
was my first experience of seeing other gay people... and it was
a turning point in my life. When I got involved in GayTalk, it introduced
me to lots of lesbians and gay men, and I began to realise how much
a part of ordinary day-to-day life we all are... You don't have
to go down to Canal Street to see someone who's gay.
"There
was probably someone you walked past this morning who's gay... maybe
the person who served you in the supermarket, or the bus driver....
The great thing about GayTalk, is that is provides a voice for all
these people. Gay people are ordinary people with ordinary lives
- but we're always looking for their extraordinary stories."
