Ruth Emm It was my going to be my first Valentine's Day with a boyfriend, how exciting! Unfortunately we realised that we would not be able to see each other as we were going on ski trips with different schools on that day so I resigned myself to the fact that I would again spend Valentines Day alone! Imagine my suprise then, when I bumped into my boyfriend in a French service station! It seems the schools had both decided on the same stop-off point. My lonely day was ended with a brief but unexpected date over hot chocolate! Tony Wadsworth, 91Èȱ¬ Radio Leicester presenter Speaking as something of a sex symbol, I guess I've generally been lucky in love.

Since my teens, women have flocked to me in their droves. I've done my best to fend them off of course, but there's only so much a fella can do. Julie (my wife) is really the lucky one in love though: lucky to have me! The most romantic thing I've done - and still do, is every morning to drizzle honey into her breakfast porridge in the shape of a heart. Costs nothing but means the world. However, the most expensive thing I've done, is to whisk her off to Paris where I arranged for a stretch limousine to take us in style to our hotel. Next day we headed-off for the Eiffel Tower where we spent part of Valentine's day. Lovely memories and I collected loads of Brownie points for that! Sara-Jane Higginbottom Although living in the Netherlands for two semesters as part of my degree was a fantastic experience, the downside meant living far away from my boyfriend of two years. Due to his work commitments, my studies and the cost of flights we only managed to see each other, on average, once a month for a weekend, which was not nearly enough! However one early morning I was woken by a phone call from him asking what I was doing that day. Slightly confused I told my boyfriend that I had no other plans than to study. He then replied that could I therefore please come and meet him at the airport in a few hours! It was the most romantic surprise ever and we had a wonderful extra weekend together in Amsterdam. I have now returned from the Netherlands and we are very much still together and about to celebrate our three year anniversary. Lucy Collins, 91Èȱ¬ Radio Leicester News Editor The most memorable Valentines Day ever was when I was 17-year-old and was seeing a very nice young man with red hair. He was the man of my dreams.

On Valentines Day when I got back from school I found a single red rose waiting by the back door for me. I had never been sent flowers before and was completely overwhelmed by the gesture. We didn't stay together forever - but he will always have a very special place in my heart. Rebecca Anderson As freshers students, myself and my boyfriend decided we couldn't afford to join the loved up couples in the fine restaurants of Leicester. Instead, my boyfriend surprised me by creating a romantic dinner for two at a fraction of the cost. Decking out his tiny room with fairy lights, he treated me to homemade spaghetti bolognese and chocolate pudding, eaten off the tiny coffee table and cushions stolen from his shared lounge. No slow service, arguing couples or expensive bills at the end of the night! The simplest of gestures often remain fondest and longest in the heart... Chris Egerton, Sportstime presenter The most romantic moments are the most surprising ones. When someone you admire shows you some interest, or something utterly spontaneous happens when you least expect it, it's just the most powerful emotion available. I was at a party a few years ago and someone who hadn't even said hello to me came up to me while I was dancing with someone else. She tapped my dancing partner on the shoulder, said excuse me and whispered in my ear…"hello, I've got to have your phone number!" Made me smile. Being on a ski holiday, one of the first I had with my partner. We stood on top of a high mountain in the snow but in bright warm sunshine before skiing down to a restaurant. It was just a hug and a kiss but a great moment together! Dave Whittingham When I was 16, and before I turned horrible and cynical, I gave this wonderful girl who meant a lot to me a small box containing a single Rolo wrapped in gold foil as a valentines day present, with a note saying 'It really was my last one'. It was very much appreciated. Linda Wickstrom The most romantic thing that has ever happened to me was not one single moment but something that happened over a long time. My boyfriend and I lived in two different countries when we met but when I got back home I knew I couldn't give him up so we started to write long e-mails to each other and after a while we met up again. Since then we have been a couple despite very long distances, difficult journeys and expensive tickets. After dating for a year and a half I moved to England to study so at least we're in the same country now, but I will never forget how much time and money my boyfriend spent on coming to see me. We also built up a really strong trust between us because of the long distance which is now stronger than ever before. So don't give up if you think the guy/girl you met at uni/home is far away during the holidays/term time – you can make it if you really want to. Lizzie Musham Whilst I was spending a year in Italy I happened to be introduced to a lovely guy called Carmine and he turned out to be a wicked chef! We started to go out and my friends persuaded me to go to the restaurant where he worked and try out some of his food. Being in Italy I thought I had better try out the item of food that the country is most famous for - pizza! I placed my order, as did my friends, and sat back sipping the fruits of the local Tuscan vineyards. After waiting for about 20 minutes our dinner arrived and the food was placed in front of us, however I noticed that the waitress was grinning as she put my plate down. I looked in frontÌýof me and couldn't believe what Carmine had done - my pizza had been fashioned into the shape of a heart, but all my friends' pizzas were conventional circles. This might make your stomach turn, butÌý the pizza certainly didn't make mine- it was gorgeous! What can I say - you can't beat a bit of Italian romancing! English men take note! Helen Astle, 91Èȱ¬ Radio Leicester reporter For my boyfriends' birthday I knew he was in dire need of a frying pan - this wasn't just me trying to make him cook for me, he himself did acknowledge the dire need.

So rather than just buying a pan, trying to wrap it and presenting it in a 'ta-dahhhhh' fashion, I bought a massive box and filled it full of ingredients for spaghetti bolognese, together with bottles of wine, herbs, fresh pasta and the needed frying pan. I then spent hours wrapping the box and just simply dropped it off at his work. He was amazed, though his colleagues thought it slightly odd - some girl dropping off some mince… Sarah Sutton Years ago when I was at university, my boyfriend (now my husband) and I had a big fight and I stormed off out of the house. It was raining heavily and as I stamped off, he ran up behind me - bringing me a hat so I wouldn't get soaked in the rain. Amy Ford My boyfriend made me a meal and we went to eat it in the living room.Ìý All his housemates were in the room and we ended up watching 'Air Force One' on the telly -Ìý not my idea of a romantic evening!Ìý Anyway I popped home to get something and when I came back the whole room was filled with candles and he had a bottle of champagne! A well recovered evening! Sally Thomas My most romantic moment was when my boyfriend sent me a bouquet of red roses. I was at work at the time, peeling potatoes in a restaurant, and my sister rang to tell me they had arrived at our house - she was happy too, she fancied the florist who delivered them.
