He left school at the age of 14, he served his apprenticeship from 16 to 21. His first electricians job paid 15 shillings per week until it was interrupted by National Service.
In the army, he was in the KDG's posted in Ireland. The KDG stand for King's Dragoon Guards. After dinner, he would stand in the corner with his mates. One of his mates was called Robert Snell. His nick-name was Sniff.
My Grandad went to quite a popular youth club.
I learnt a lot about Great Britain from 1948 from my Grandad.
