Buy a magazine of your special interest
I'm learning Italian and visit the country quite often. I always buy little things that I can use in my everyday life such as shampoo, mints, chewing gum so that there is always something of the language around me. The other helpful thing is to buy a magazine in your special interest. I enjoy cooking, so I always buy a brightly coloured and illustrated monthly cooking magazine when I'm over there. It's engaging and I'm motivated to read it.
