My minimum daily commute is to Sutton Coldfield and back, where I work for a children's charity, although I travel around the UK. My normal mpg in my Skoda Octavia is around 55mpg on a motorway journey. However, a couple of weeks ago, I travelled back from Harrogate, and drove a bit slower and a bit smoother, and found that I got 74mpg, an increase of nearly 50%. Since then, my driving habits have changed, and I got up to 87.9mpg travelling between Birmingham International and Worcester. This is minimising the increase in both my and my employers travel costs. By the way, the cost of diesel in Sutton Coldfield today was 137.9/litre, some 5p cheaper than Worcester. Guess where I filled up? last updated: 25/06/2008 at 14:23 Have Your SayIf you have had to change your lifestyle because of rising fuel prices, let us know
