Climate and weather
Climate affects the growing season and understanding the climate in your garden will help you to garden more successfully.
Drive from Scotland to Cornwall in spring, and you'll see daffodils at different stages of growth along the way, flowering in Cornwall but still green shoots in Scotland. That鈥檚 because the start of the growing season is affected by where you are in the country - in the far North of Scotland it often starts four to six weeks later than in Middle England, which is four weeks after the far tip of Cornwall.
Climate is also about altitude. For every 300m (328yd) your garden is above sea level, knock about two weeks off the growing season because the higher you are, the colder it is.
