- Fork over bare soil in vegetable beds
- Plant shallots and onion sets, sow early vegetables and salads, covering with cloches if cold
- Feed soft and tree fruit
- Plant sprouted potato tubers
- Sow most maincrop vegetables, other than frost tender ones
- Plant tomatoes in an unheated greenhouse
- After the last frost sow frost-tender vegetables

- Paint liquid shading on to the outside of the greenhouse
- Clear early vegetables and salads and replant beds as soon as possible
- Feed and water tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, cucumbers and melon plants regularly
- Plant new strawberry plants
- Protect soft fruit from birds
- Plant winter brassicas
- Earth up potatoes

- Spring clean the greenhouse before the first frosts
- Dig and manure empty beds
- Sow winter salads under glass
- Plant soft and tree fruit
- Dig up potatoes and store in paper sacks in a frost-free shed
- Pick and store apples
- Start to winter prune fruit trees

- Finish winter pruning fruit trees
- Prune autumn-fruiting raspberries
- Finish digging and manuring beds
- Order seed for next year
- Harvest and store winter cropping vegetables as appropriate
