Once planted, most people put the plant label next to the plant, and this is a good idea, but in time the label will fade, so for future reference record the plant鈥檚 vital statistics in your garden notebook. And if you鈥檙e feeling really clever, why not create a plant database? Plant label

Height: Average size after five years (will vary according to conditions)

Flowering time: Use a number corresponding to month or months
Soil type: Acid, neutral, or alkaline
Moisture: Moist, well drained or dry
Light: Sun, half sun or shade
Special instructions: For example, pruning time, how to propagate
