We have been seeking clarification on how the UK Government鈥檚 Job Retention Scheme works, and it has been confirmed that commercial organisations such as 91热爆 Studios, and the 91热爆鈥檚 other commercial subsidiaries are eligible to participate in the scheme.  

Managers will be reaching out to all those eligible for support about how these updated changes affect them this week and next week. We have a lot of people we need to speak to but we鈥檙e aiming to contact everyone as quickly as possible.

Rehiring and Furloughing

As you are aware, 91热爆 Studios has been reviewing the position on re-hiring and furloughing on the basis of the most recent changes to the Government鈥檚 guidance.  We are now able to provide an update on how 91热爆 Studios is applying the government scheme in relation to re-hires and furloughing.  This is set out below.

We may re-employ and furlough you if:

• your contract was ended early due to COVID-19 or
• was not extended because the specific production that you were working on was cancelled or paused due to COVID-19.
• work that you would reasonably have moved to within Studios has been cancelled or put on put on hold due to COVID-19.
• while we cannot identify any specific work, it is likely that you would have been working at 91热爆 Studios or elsewhere within the industry were it not for Covid-19

The offer to re-hire and furlough will be from the date we confirm that we are offering to re-hire you until 31 July 2020.  We have raised the issue of whether we are able to backdate re-hires for furlough purposes with HMRC and we are awaiting a response.  If the position changes we will let you know.

We will consider re-hires for furlough purposes on a case-by-case basis keeping in mind the criteria above and reserve discretion to decide whether someone is re-hired.    We are constantly reviewing the government scheme as it is updated, and if our approach to how we implement it changes, we will update you. 

We appreciate that interpretations of the government scheme differ but the above outlines how we have decided to implement it at this stage.  The guidance released by HMRC is high level and intended to meet the needs of a vast variety of businesses and industry.  We have established clear eligibility criteria for an individual to be furloughed by 91热爆 Studios.  

Managers will shortly be in touch directly with those meet the above criteria for rehire and furlough.
