Iain Softley has enjoyed a diverse career since making his debut with the acclaimed Fab Four drama Backbeat in 1994. His subsequent career has been harder to predict than the Lottery numbers - Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie teen computer flick Hackers (1995) was followed by Henry James costume drama The Wings Of The Dove (1997), with Helena Bonham Carter and Linus Roache.
He was attached to a couple of British movies (The Boathouse; About A Boy) but eventually resurfaced in Hollywood with the sci-fi curio K-PAX (2002), starring Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. He's now hopped genres again to make supernatural thriller The Skeleton Key.
