Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon rediscover their groupie past in "The Banger Sisters", which comes to DVD with few features that reflect the fun of the movie.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Some kindly soft focus is in use here, but the transfer is still sharp and detailed.
Sound The 5.1 sound gets to play with some energetic rock numbers and doesn't miss the opportunity to impress.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary We do tend to bang on about people who don't prepare for commentary tracks - but quite rightly so. Writer and director Bob Dolman proves the point here as he quickly runs out of things to say.
"You can see the band there in the mirror" and comments like "I love this song" interspersed with pregnant pauses just add up to a dull commentary. About the most interesting bit is where he points out some continuity problems with a bunch of flowers.
HBO Special Someone send HBO a dictionary 'cause they're using words they don't understand here. HBO do indeed make some special stuff, as your telly will confirm, but this 14-minute making of featurette is not such a moment in their history. By the end of this mush of cast and crew interviews, there won't be much about the plot and characters you don't know, but then that's why the film was made, surely? Let's just watch that instead eh?
Blooper Reel If you liked the movie you'll love this five-minute blooper reel. Sarandon and especially Hawn fall victim to the giggles as scene after scene is devastated by some often-amusing mishap.
